Apple Sues Samsung

The world's fiercest rivalry among smartphones has come back in to the courts in none other than the heart of the Silicon Valley where reportedly Apple sues Samsung. Not a surprise its Apple and Samsung again who have begun a new trial in which they are accusing each other, of stealing designs and features.

Just like the previous trial, which was held 2 years back in the year 2012, this new case will also be overseen by Judge Lucy Koh. It will be overseen in the district court of California in San Jose.
In this latest trial Apple is looking for damages of $2 billion, claiming immediate action for breaking the laws for the five patents by Samsung devices which were sold in the United States between the year 2010 and 2012. It also includes Galaxy smartphones and tablets of Samsung. Not leaving behind Apple, Samsung has also been seen claiming infringement of two of its patents according to which they had excluded others for copying their invention by iPhone and also iPad.

However there is no denying to the fact that many kinds of software patents are written in such a way that they cover ground more than what Apple or any other tech firm actually invented. It is suspected that if Apple succeeds in winning this case, then it could bring some more similar lawsuits as well. The question which arises is that whether Apple Sues Samsung only or will it be every company copying the patents.
Apple began this lawsuit process, Steve Jobs got furious after watching what he called after seeing as copying of iPhone features by Android by Google and then decided to take action on it.
The latest case between the two companies will be supposedly less than two years because previously the jury finally found out that the South Korean company was actually infringing Apple patents. It was then that after Apple Sued Samsung that the Korean Company was ordered to pay an amount equal to $929 million but soon after that it had been allowed to continue selling its Samsung products using the technology.

Then as a result Apple’s attorneys wrote again in court filings and mentioned that Samsung has in a sophisticated way copied Apple's innovative technology including its products, designs and also some of its features.
As per Apple, Samsung has stolen many key features and design elements of the iOS, and has used them while making its Galaxy smartphones and also tablets.
Patent 1:
The system and its method for performing a task on a structure in computer generated data.

This patent includes the iOS’s ability to recognize certain strings of text and the format of automatically adding links where applicable.
Patent
2:
The retrieval of information through universal search.

This patent covers the technology which allows Apple’s devices to simultaneously search for local as well as content on the web.
Patent 3:
The feature of data synchronization among devices.

It includes the way in which Apple’s iPhone and iPads synchronize its data with different devices while the users continue to add new data.
Patent 4:
Performing device unlocking through gestures over the unlock image.

It describes the system through which devices get unlocked by performing a simple gesture over a lock image on screen.
Patent 5:
The method, graphical user interface and system for providing word recommendations.

Apple’s auto-correct technology might be pretty awful, but to everybody’s surprise it is still patented. Hence it seems legit to hear that Apple sued Samsung.
